Little and Big Surprises: Door #2

I try to be grateful for good things as they come along and for what I have. I have thanked God and lucky stars many times for having a solution to a problem materialize when I felt at a loss. Of course, like most humans, I take things for granted and get lost in the everyday tasks of survival and get caught off guard when these surprises of life actually do happen. Then, these surprises become pleasant reminders of gratitude which reinforce themselves into your conscious. Surprises help you wipe your eyes of self involvement and freshen your view to your surroundings. Surprises help you see a community of diverse individuals and pay note to the hardships each person bears and how they carry themselves through the track of hurdles and obstacles.  Please, always help me be grateful.  My surprise behind Door #2 came in the form of a phone call about three weeks ago. This was about a week after my ...

Little and Big Surprises: Door #1

October has been an interesting month for me and I have had some surprises bring a smile to my face. I've had a smile brought to my face for many precious moments that were shared with good people, safe travels and special occasions.  For starters, my birthday was in early October and my friend, Little Di, came down from Everett for the weekend. Neither of us has had free flowing money to spend, so our time spent together is usually by frugal means. We don't mind. We actually enjoy hanging out with each other and don't need to patronage casinos, restaurants, shopping malls or movie theaters to have fun. We actually accomplished some errands, walked through downtown Olympia, the local farmer's market and as usual, played a lot of nickel anti poker with wine at our side. When I was at her place the last two visits, I think I walked away $3-5 richer. It always surprises me when I beat her. This time we b...

Coffee Gets Creepy

I am sitting outside on my little patio admiring the view with my laptop at hand. I was paged at 5:40 AM this morning to a call from a care giver unable to make her shift today. Of course, that is way too early to make calls for a replacement, so I went back to sleep and started my day at about 7:45 AM. So much for sleeping in, (frown here.) I eventually handled the scheduling problems by placing several calls and disturbing other employees. It's a wonder any of them like me at all.  After a long time of  working on my laptop with my remote connection to the office computer and tinkering around on my social media sites,  I went back into the kitchen for another cup of java. For some reason, I looked up and saw the shading of a snake inside my large kitchen light. After I verified what it was by staring and cringing at it for a while, I texted my landlord/friend, KP.  "OMG! There is a snake using the kitchen light as a heat lamp!" Her text repl...

Retrospection

Image
I decided to read some of my older posts today. I wanted to see my development, from the beginning of this blog. I thought, if needed, maybe I would explain some points. In accordance with my original post, I should explain the ending of where I said I was the product of my mother and father's love, though I never had a dad. I am the ninth child, but my father had Leukemia for some months prior to my birth. He died a week before I was born. So, yes, my mother had a funeral for her husband, and then gave birth to her last baby a week later. I guess my older sister was in the delivery room with her. A bond still remembered, by her.    I have reviewed all of the posts of my deepened, saddened feelings of  my second divorce. I have healed tremendously, since the beginning. I still have scars, and sometimes, I wonder, if being completely healed will ever be within me. I feel as though there will always be an undercurrent of loss and bewilderment. But that is okay...
