On February 27th and February 28th, I loaded and unloaded my Honda over sixteen times with boxes and belongings in efforts to empty my storage unit and old room of which I rented. I was successful with my plan of solo hauling to avoid encroaching on anyone's time and drove my stuff to the new digs, time and time again. I can pack my Honda to the hilt, and was very happy that my plan worked.  I had arranged with my friend, Sam, to help me Thursday PM after his workday was finished, to help me with his truck and muscle move my couch and overstuffed side chair from storage, and remove my bed and desk from the old room. I do believe he was impressed that I literally only had these few pieces of furniture to load. We did it by filling his truck bed, once...and hauled it all in one load. Bless his heart, he even helped me set my bed up in the new space, allowing me a comfortable place to sleep that first night. Of course, I stayed up late into the night situating furniture and mak...

Curve Ball-Foul Ball

As a continuation of my journey to this playing field of which I'm on, I shall continue to share of meetings and happenings. After all, there are other players involved. They make the playing field more interesting and impact my outcome. I will tell of the hits and misses being played during the search for a new home, a new job, and other meanderings.  "The morning after" wasn't awkward with Bryan. Neither of us had anything to feel ashamed of, really. Our morning began by drinking coffee out of different beer glasses...he doesn't have cups either. (laugh here.) I made a mental note of this and thought on my next visit, should there be one, I will actually bring beer. It may be more suitable for these receptacles. I wonder if he ever drinks beer from them, or does he drink that right from the BOTTLE? (smile here).  We talked of the Seahawk's exciting, playoff game being televised in less than 2 hours. I reminded him I had plans to go to KP's house with ...

Curve Ball-The Warm Up

My excitement was apparent after viewing Linda's space and it doubled because of Bryan giving me the signal to come for a visit.  After my purchase of a cheap bottle of wine, I drove through the dark and the fog to find Bryan's house. Visibility was a challenge and I passed the proper street...twice. (laugh here). I sent him a text message with my whereabouts so he didn't think I went in the other direction to negate the plan. He responded and said the door was unlocked and to come in. He'd never hear my knock from the ass freezing, cold, man cave.  Upon my entry into his special arena, the football game was being projected on his WALL SIZE screen. (For grumpy's information, it's way bigger than a 60" screen.) We went into the kitchen and he plucked two beer glasses from a cupboard, apologizing that he had no wine glasses. I gently reminded him; if I moved in, he would...and a nice wine rack to boot. (laugh here). I assured him I had no issue with the g...

Curve Ball-A Hit

The job searches continue and I have personally turned in some application packets, in hopes of meeting the right person with the hiring status. No such luck. I think Human Resource folks are well protected during companies' hiring splurges. I have been told time and again, they would contact me should I warrant an interview. (sigh here). I am not happy with the three staffing agencies I have registered with, either.  I have a couple of friends that send me links within their organizations of new job postings. Unfortunately, they don't have enough clout with their "powers that be," to convince them of my capabilities and scheduling an interview. So, I just keep on keepin' on, (as our, dear, bill would say). (smile here).  During these decision making processes, I decided to do something worthwhile. I figured; rather than spending endless hours in this room absorbed by cyber space, not only do I need to keep being social on occasion, but I need to keep my secret...

Curve Ball-Slider

A brief explanation of my area:Olympia, (population 45,000), Lacey (population 42,000), & Tumwater, (population 17,000) are all part of the blended area. Lacey is where I am nearest; 2 miles away, downtown Olympia is about 8 miles away and Tumwater is 10 miles in distance. The metropolitan area combined is about 104,000 people. At most times, no matter which direction you are diving from or to, you can see Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Mts., in the background. Lots of forests surround us, and the city has done a great job with lining the streets with trees and keeping it clean. You can, often, see the Capitol Dome sitting aside Capitol Lake, right in the middle of it all.  I continued my search of spaces for rent and responded to more ads via email. There was one post that was quite amusing and tested your abilities to follow instructions. After the ad described the rooms for rent, utility information and deposit requirements, it jokingly referenced the man cave in the ga...

Curve Ball-First Pitch

In looking for a new space to rent and dealing with this curve ball of life, I must say I am learning new things and meeting some interesting people. On a few occasions, I took my resume and letter of references with me. I felt that would solidify the type of person I am, and "ya never know" who you'll connect with.   Jason: he is a man 36 years of age. He has an 8 year old daughter who visits every other weekend, given his recent divorce. He owns his own home and is looking to rent two rooms to two tenants. He needs help with the house payment. It's an older farmhouse, small rooms, basement and he lays claim to the upstairs for his and his daughter's bedrooms and his office. He owns a small construction company while going to school for Holistic Medicine. It wasn't a bad place and he certainly is a nice young guy. Did I mention he is Mormon? He reassured me he doesn't care of others' religious beliefs. However, in conversation I learned there is n...

Curve Ball Through the Window

I feel we all know what life's little "curve balls" are. A more defined term stated in a non-baseball meaning; variants of the expression "to throw a curve ball" essentially translate to introducing a significant deviation to a preceding concept.(Ask.com). Yes, that is an accurate meaning. Yes, the curve ball of which I will refer has to do with one that was thrown at my window. Thrown into my small space in this world. Thrown onto my pathway of life of which I walk.  I chose not to title this in relation to pigeon poop. You have all read and commented in support of me through those unpleasant circumstances and posts. I thank you for that. My posts of pigeon poop described those situations of my life that were nasty and unpleasant. They described stressful happenings that affected my emotional well being and life. The curve ball is a bit different. I shall pretend that a curve ball is easier to handle and, possibly, more interesting. I shall not allow this ob...

A Mist on the Horizon

So, there I was this week, starting to pack bits and pieces. I had been collecting some boxes for quite some time. so I am grouping, and piling things together. "Storage stack" and a, "new place" stack, a "throw out" stack and a "donate stack." I go through shifts of emotion. A bit of excitement, a bit of acceptance, a bit of melancholy and even...sadness.   The excitement is rendered from freedom. I can pick up, pack up, and go at my own free will. My decision affects no one. I can look forward to monetary savings and say to myself, "yea, I'll be able to get my hair done when it NEEDS it. Not when I can AFFORD it. I can have an occasional drink out with the girls and maybe not let the brain operate like a cash register in overtime. My housemate and I should get along well. A new friend.   Acceptance bears weight inside me, I see this period in my life for what it is. A growth, a path to gaining my goal of owning my own place again. ...
