Life Into Boxes

Tonight, at an earlier time than normal, I am feeling a bit fatigued. I have been working quite steadily these last few days. Of course, keeping with the momentum of the move, I have carted about seven carloads of belongings from my bedroom and storage unit to my new space. I have been doing this solo as it is a task I have under control. I have carted boxes and boxes of possessions up a flight of nine steps to the new room, from the car through the garage, prior to that. That is OK. I like work and have missed it actually. I have become quite the computer geek and not liking where it is heading, as I see my waistline thickening.
I went to the new place on Sunday and shampooed the bedroom and hallway carpets. Ready for a fresh start. Linda was nice enough to share the key code with me, gaining me entrance into the house and start the move prior to the 1st. Thank goodness. That has helped enough to when my friend Sam shows up tomorrow after work, we shall only have three items to move; my couch and overstuffed side chair from the unit, and my bed from here.
I had a nice conversation with roomie tonight as I was packing up my kitchen wares. I am glad we are ending on a good note and she is relieved I found a suitable place. I thanked her, again, for obliging me the tenancy with her. It was a learning curve for us both, and it has been pleasurable that we got along so famously. I hope circumstances work out for her and her sister. I am sure they will.
Packing my life into boxes really brought me to many realizations. I miss having my own home and space. I shall strive for that again. I survived this last 15 months sharing a space with a housemate. I left my job due to stress overload, which is something pretty decisive for me. I am an Executor of my mother's estate. I am learning so much of the world I've missed, given I was stuck at that job and lived in that lil' ole' town for so long, prior to my move to Olympia. Still, my knowledge is so freshman-like. I have at least, or hope to have, thirty or more years left in me. What should I do with them?
Maybe travel is something I should think about. I have traveled very little in my years. Mexico once, from Western US to Midwest a few times, Hawaii, (ah...sigh here...I loved Hawaii), Canada a time or two, Texas,  and that is it. No far reaching places or spaces. One of my fellow Toastmasters gave a speech last night on her youth and how she became a stewardess allowing her to travel. She spoke of these travels and places in a descriptive manner when she gave her speech. I was enthralled. Ah, to be that brave. To throw caution to the wind like that is so admirable. But, my reality doesn't encompass that now. Job first. Though, maybe I should seek out a job that allows me to travel. Hmm...
Anyway, I am not leaving this space in a saddened mood. I am leaving it with the best attitude I can have regarding my choices. I think Linda needs me and my company of enthusiasm. I think she has been reclusive and sad, a lot. I hope we are a positive force for each other. I think we will be, actually.
Toastmasters maintains it's demands, but I am grateful for the club and those officer demands. What would I have done without it? I shall not pursue another officer position in May at the elections. I think with my job searches and potential volunteering at SafePlace, that should be plenty of irons in the fire. I will have the luxury of attending as a regular member without extra duties. How refreshing! (laugh here.)
In comparison to most people, I think we go through these times of retrospect when a major change is on the horizon. I guess we look at out immortality with a questioning eye.
We probably all check our hopes and doubts when we pack our lives into boxes.

Ms King that was a lovely blog. All full of hope and spirit and ready to take on the challenges of a new beginning. Just remember what you're about to do, find a new job, is a matter of numbers. Don't let rejection get you down because with each rejection you are one step closer to getting that job you want. It's a numbers game. Again, good blog. You even made me feel better.

Moving is high on the stress causing meter. Make sure you take time to consciously relax.

I'm glad things are going as smoothly as possible in your move.

Since my travel to Alaska last fall, I have also been bitten with the travel bug. Although the trip and travel problems were a pain I want to get out and see the world because hopefully I have another 30good years left. There is only one thing standing in my way, not enough $$$$$$. Wanna start buying lotter tickets with me?
