Fine at Fifty Five
Despite having another year under my belt I am not fifty five years old. That will be two years from now. Why did I title this blog referring to that age? You might ask? Or, you might not ask. It doesn't really matter because that title has a significance for me.
It is the title of an event, so to speak. It is the title of many things that will hopefully tie myself together in preparation for the next fifty five years. Of course that is unreasonable, as that would put me at the age of 110 in the year 2069. That is well beyond my life expectancy .
Look how futuristic that number seemed from our childhood in the sixties. Look how I can write that number with a sense of reality and can loosely see it in the future. I am sure hitting these landmark years are the same ones all grandparents or aunts and uncles joke about; ''middle aged." I am there really, or have probably hit them 10 years ago. I thought being fifty was "that age." But in all likelihood it's your years during your forties that qualifies you as middle aged.
I have envisioned this title because it would be fun, entertaining and empowering to perform benefits for organizations using it. My mind's eye leans toward audiences that are filled with women who have empowered others and the stage is the laying ground for their stories. I have fascinating women as friends and sharing their life works or experiences to those who need to achieve accomplishments could aerate a room. They're not bad to look at either.
My doctor friend has been studying under James Canfield. She gave a free four hour seminar based off if of his tutelage. She did a fabulous job. She is developing her own program to become a paid inspirational speaker. She is a former Toastmaster and that rehearsing helped her command the stage. Despite the age old strategies she teaches and most speakers using them as a similar teaching tool, she had a relevant and charming presence during her delivery, "The 100 Things to Accomplish in Your Life," is the meat of the topic. Yes, the bucket list. I have 77 out of a 100 written down on my list.
I have a friend who was a victim of human trafficking from Bangladesh to the US when she was 10 years old. She currently presents and teaches different organizations such; as police departments, airports and schools how to look for symptoms of a trafficked victim.
My friend KP has aspirations to be a new business presenter and consultant. She has bought, sold or started many businesses during her career years. She is a current coach of the Economic Development Council and coaching such business owners. She's amazing and fascinating and can share wisdom in the most pleasant understandable way.
I have life experiences and knowledge to share. I've even envisioned getting back in to great shape and wearing a hot pink t-shirt, black shorts, black and white striped socks with hot pink Convers tennis shoes while bouncing and clapping on stage. I would be the host of the event and getting the crowd riled up with uplifting music as I introduce my friends and their presentations.
Of course, this is the bare tip of the ice berg of admirable people I know. I would have non gender related seminars including men which would allow me to share more messages from a broader circle of friends.
I have many more accomplishments to earn before the end of 2015 and 2016. I am trying to map them out in order to start my journey towards being "fine at fifty five."
